Plans passed for new 30 bed care home!
22 April 2016
Birmingham City Council has granted Willowbrook outline planning permission to build a brand new 30 bed care home next to our existing building. Full planning permission is expected early January and work will get under way in the Spring of 2016
The care home will be laid out over 3 floors. The ground and first floors will be home to 15 service users on each floor. All bedrooms will be significantly larger than is required by the Care Quality Commission and every bedroom will incorporate an en suite wet room.
Most of the services in the existing building will move over to the new unit, with brand new kitchen and laundry rooms and what will be a very impressive training facility.
The home will also include:
- A Cinema Room
- Two Large Lounge/Dining Rooms
- Sensory Room
- Quiet Lounge
- Two Kitchenettes
- Staff and Locker Room
- Staff Shower Room
- 13 Person Lift
- Service Lift for goods deliveries
- Two Nurse Stations
- Wider Corridors
And plenty of storage space!
The Aldridge garden will have the fence removed to create a larger garden which will be shared with the new unit.
By moving the majority of services into the new building we will be able to refurbish.
Willowbrook. This will mean we can create more space for clients by opening up the existing kitchen for more day room.
And in addition, a further 60 new jobs will be created bringing our total work force to over 170.
Between now and Christmas, preparation work will commence on the adjacent land which will be completely cleared to allow for the foundation work to start in February.
